Hello again Medium, it’s lovely to be back

Sorry, I’m testing this thing out here. Seeing if it works.

I’m writing you via my Medium blog. They have this groovy new email capability where I can publish here and click a button to have the post sent to your handy dandy email inbox. I’ve been waiting for yeeeeears for them to come out with this feature and, well, they finally read my mind and acted on it (those techy Silicon Valley people, they’re pretty neat, aren’t they?)…

This is so much better than what I used to have to do when I published here years ago (which was to send my personal email subscribers a link to open my Medium articles separately every time).

So… All of that being said… I’m going to try this out for at least a little while. See how it works. Most posts of mine will be written here on Medium and automagically emailed to you. We’ll see how it goes.

My Substack at Along the Way will be the place where I’ll share updates, weekly digests (when I get back to publishing more regularly), audio notes, extra goodies, and perks for paid subscribers who want to go deeper and support my work.

The reason I’m doing this is several-fold…

• I really enjoy writing here. It’s where I got my start blogging years ago and it feels like home to me (even though I’ve long had an on-and-off relationship with Medium).
• Medium makes for a wonderful reading experience. As a reader, you can highlight, bookmark, share, organize, and comment on posts (publicly or privately) if you wish. It really is a beautiful and responsive reading experience if you ask me.
• When I write on Medium, my work goes out to a lot more people. Writing for my personal email subscribers like you over at my Along the Way Substack has been great. But as a writer, I gotta be honest. I want more people to read my stuff. Any writer who tells you differently is not being truthful to you, themselves, or both.
